Elaine's comments:
We like to think that Leaside is more of a St. John’s small
hotel or inn, than a traditional B&B - bed and breakfast.
We like to
name our suites. It helps us give them personalities and it helps
you identify with our facilities. This one is called the Confederation,
and is named for our province’s auspicious union with Canada
in 1949.
The Confederation
is a quiet, chic, double-tub suite located on the second floor of
the house. It was created out of two rooms: Julia’s room,
the live-in housekeeper for the Parker family, and the upper floor’s
main family bathroom. The former was a wee room, with the original
butler’s bell – so she knew where in the house the request
for service came. (The bell in the office is exactly the same) I
mean no disrespect whatsoever when I say that there has been many
a guest who thinks Julia, long left this world, still abides in
the house!
This is quite
a room – quality built, and contemporary and strong in its
styling. It has even been called sexy!
