The Argentia
Suite is named for the community in Placentia Bay that served as
the mercantile capital for the fishing industry within that bay.
But Argentia was to become more prominent than that. In 1942, seeking
an ice free port closer to Europe, the U.S. government took a 99
year lease for what was to become home to the largest number of
U.S. military naval air men and women and their families outside
of the U.S. The base closed in the mid-60s.
You will find
the Argentia one of our more conservative experiences – no
frills, but equally romantic with quality, leather furniture, fireplace
and a deep soaker tub in a mirrored setting.
The Argentia
has become a favorite for corporate clients looking for all the
comforts of a St. John's boutique hotel or inn…and for those
who like to celebrate in a contemporary and luxurious setting.
